A start...

Last night, I was stuck by the sudden urge to paint something. I scurried around my room looking for something to paint. It looked as though I may have been forced to actually paint my Striking Scorpions. With a sigh, I opened my case to retrieve some paints when I saw... HIM!

Cheesy picture, I know. But a friend of mine had given my a few bases I needed to finish a unit of Kroot. In return, I offered to paint something for him. He gave me an Ork Warboss, the one from the AoBR (Assault on Black Reach) boxset.

He told me he would more or less let me do what I liked with him. He's a member of the Bad Moons Clan, so there would have to be a certain amount of yellow that needed to be involved. I gave the model a good basecoat with a can of Skull white and sat down to appraise him. There was alot of metallic bits on him, which meant I would be using a ton of Boltgun Metal. In fact, I used that first on almost all the metal bits, then I painted over that with with Red Gore or Bad Moon Yellow. I used Bleached Bone for the cloth bits, his teefs, and the lovely skull on his shoulder. I did a dry brush of Blood Red on the red things to brighten them. I used Flesh Wash (The best wash EVER) to do the thing on his back and give it a natural leather look, and used it watered down on his pants to give them a dirty tan look. I then started to make him look more orky by doing dry brushes of Boltgun Metal, and then Mythril Silver. I also used the Mythril Silver to do highlights on the Power Klaw, Big Shoota, and metaly bits. With the Flesh wash again, I used a light watered down coat on the tassle of the bosspole to make it look dirty and generally more orky. I used Regal blue, then Enchanted Blue on his eyepeice to make it stand out. I gave it a tiny touch of Skull White to make it look shiny, and applied 'Ardcoat to make it actually shiny. I finished by basing it with GW Modelling Sand.

I'm quite pleased with how this model turned out! Doomby now has a great centrepiece model for his budding Bad Moons army, and I hope it leads him to victories on the tabletop, and encourages him to paint up the rest of da boyz. WAAAAAAAGH!!!

That's all for now. More to come!
